Kimberly Cole Unveils Her Boldest Single Yet, “BLOODY MARY,” Exploring Raw Emotions and Artistic Roller Skating

Get ready to turn up the volume and open your hearts! Fearless and innovative singer, songwriter, and filmmaker Kimberly Cole has just dropped her latest single, “BLOODY MARY,” now streaming on Spotify and Apple Music. This track is set to blow your mind. Known for her eclectic style—a compelling fusion of pop’s melodic highs and hip-hop’s gritty undercurrents—Cole takes things even further with this release, adding deeper layers of emotion and honesty to create something truly unique.

The song is more than just a new track—it’s a deep dive into Cole’s soul, revealing struggles, growth, and acceptance. Recorded in her home studio loft in Universal City, LA, “BLOODY MARY” was born from a session filled with laughter, tears, and, as the title suggests, a few sips of Bloody Marys. The result? A haunting, confessional piece that sees Cole embracing her vulnerability while delivering an infectious beat and lyrical mastery.

“This song is a confession to myself,” Kimberly shared. “A come-to-Jesus moment, a wake-up call to finally be honest with myself.” These words only hint at the rawness you’ll find within “BLOODY MARY”’s lyrics, which tackle issues we often hide from others—and even ourselves. Cole’s willingness to open up about her personal struggles gives the track a relatable depth, making it more than just a catchy tune, but an anthem for self-acceptance.

The Making of “BLOODY MARY”

“BLOODY MARY” is a collaboration between Cole and her long-time creative partner, producer Jeeve Ducornet, along with Goldie. Describing their synergy, Cole says: “Jeeve Ducornet produced the track. We have been working together for 15 years, and I credit him for helping me develop my sound. We literally locked ourselves in a creative cave for years developing, producing, experimenting, and finding the ethos to our sound.” Jeeve’s deep understanding of Cole’s artistry shines through in the single’s haunting melodies and gripping hooks.

But what truly adds to the emotional intensity of the track is the unique bond between Cole and Ducornet—they were once married. Now ex-spouses, the two still maintain a creative partnership that fuels both their music and emotions. “He’s also my ex-husband. We still create together. Keeps things interesting (and emotional) to say the least,” she remarks candidly.

Recording “BLOODY MARY” was an experience in itself. “We wrote and recorded in our home studio—a bright and sunny loft in Universal City overlooking the 101 freeway in Los Angeles—while sipping Bloody Mary’s,” Kimberly recalls. “Needless to say, it was a fucking fun session. Many ‘demons’ were released that day.” You can feel the honesty in the music, every word dripping with realness that’s often absent in modern pop tracks.

More Than Just a Song: The Visual Experience of “BLOODY MARY”

As if the song itself wasn’t enough to stir your soul, Cole has paired it with a breathtaking music video that brings her passion for artistic roller skating to life. Directed by BT MEZA, the video was shot in a dilapidated warehouse in downtown LA, where Cole and world champion artistic roller skater Trey Knight skate through the cracked cement, mirroring the struggles and beauty embedded in “BLOODY MARY.” The setting, much like the song, is far from polished—raw, real, and incredibly moving.

“We found the perfect dilapidated warehouse in downtown LA that had a smooth enough floor for us to skate on without causing major injuries,” says Kimberly. “The cracks in the foundation became a metaphor for the song’s meaning – confronting the imperfections and challenges we all face.”

Her passion for roller skating isn’t a passing phase; it’s been a lifelong love affair. She credits the sport for helping her cope with some of life’s most difficult moments. “Not only has roller skating given me an outlet, but it genuinely saved my life more than once,” she explains. To capture this passion, she’s working on a documentary titled Blood, Sweat, and Wheels, produced in collaboration with John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Company and Critical Content. The film, set to release later this year, will explore the underground culture of competitive roller skating—a sport Cole believes should be recognized on an Olympic level.

The Starlite Roller Rink: A New Chapter in Cole’s Skating Journey

Kimberly’s love for the sport goes beyond music videos and documentaries. This fall, she’s set to bring her vision to life in a new and exciting way as she collaborates with Branden Powers, the mastermind behind Starlite Roller Rink, a venue poised to redefine the roller skating experience in Las Vegas. As Creative Director, Cole plans to blend her music, filmmaking, and athleticism to create a venue that’s as much about art as it is about sport.

“My collaboration with Branden and Starlite will enable me to combine my music, filmmaking, athleticism, and artistry in a way that’s never been done before,” she shares with excitement. The venture will also serve as a platform to elevate roller skating’s profile, pushing for it to be recognized as an Olympic sport. “As silly as it sounds, I will stop at nothing to get this sport recognized as an Olympic sport. These athletes need to be heard.”

The Story Behind “BLOODY MARY”

For those wondering about the emotional backbone of the song, Cole reveals that it’s born from a place of self-discovery and reckoning. “The song represents all that is hidden underneath. Not in just me, but all of us. All the things we hide. All the things we would never ever expose. Not just from our friends, family, and the people around us, but from ourselves. This song represents a confession to myself. A come-to-Jesus, a wake-up call, a surrender, the start of finally being honest with myself. The start of acceptance.”

With this new single, Cole isn’t just making music—she’s starting conversations. She wants listeners to resonate with her honesty and be brave enough to face their own hidden truths. “I want listeners to be brave with me. I want to continue to do the things that scare me and inspire others to do the same. The good, the bad, the messy, the human.”
