Showing incredible lyricism, J Young MDK celebrates the Christmas holidays with his latest hip-hop single release, titled “Grandma House”. The track allows this artist to prove to the world why he is one of the top rising rappers in the music industry at the moment. This release follows up his previous single “Misconceptions”.
J Young MDK, real name Jermaine Carter, is a singer-songwriter, rapper, actor, director, and producer, from Atlanta. There’s nothing this hard-working human being can’t do, and he started in music as a teen, winning a competitive freestyle radio contest. He is mentored by none other than Jamie Foxx, so it’s no surprise that J Young MDK is the rising star that he is. He’s released a total of four studio albums “Now Or Never” (2019), “Aqua” (2020), “Black” (2020), and “White” (2020), and he refused to let the pandemic prevent him from performing, deciding to find safe venues around the country that would allow him to showcase his music live on stage. His passion for his music led him to support Latto across the US on her 2022 777 Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. He is set to release his fifth studio album, titled “Forever Young”, very soon. As for acting, he’s starred in Netflix’s “The App That Stole Christmas”, Apple’s “Feds Did a Sweep”, the Tupac biopic “All Eyez On Me”, and the upcoming film “Lola 2”; his first lead role was in the short independent film “Mixed Girl” and he also starred as Young Icey in VH-1’s “Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding” alongside the likes of Ne-Yo, Keri Hilson, Tamar Braxton, Redman, Terrence Jenkins, Shad “Bow Wow” Moss, Serayah, and Jermaine Dupri. He also recently dropped a single alongside Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, BSB Boys, and Sam Pounds for Netflix’s “Dayshift” film, titled “BUD (Mowing Down Vamps)”. On top of all that, he’s the Official Ambassador for American Diabetes Association and he has partnered with Out of Dark (Suicide Prevention) his goal is to empower and reach 10k teens and young adults by end of 2023. If anything, all this proves that J Young MDK is hard working and certainly does not stop, especially with his highly anticipated fifth studio album on its way, alongside upcoming music videos and films.
Written by Jermaine Carter, himself, “Grandma House” is a festive hip-hop track that is surely set to strike a heart-felt nerve with every listener. The track starts off soulful with a hint of Christmas production vibes before J Young MDK launches into the first verse. We hear about how he would spend his holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and his birthday at his Grandma’s house and the festivities that would take place. It isn’t until the second verse when he raps “I know you’re looking down on me, proud of your Grandson”, that we realise this is a reminiscent song as he brings up all the nostalgic memories that he has at “Grandma House”. Halfway through the track, this outstanding artist turns the track into a personal letter to his Grandma and how he will love her forever – we’ve got chills and happy tears as he pulls at our heartstrings. This track alone showcases how amazing and talented J Young MDK really is with remarkable lyricism, astonishing passion, and extraordinary delivery, he really does have it all.
