It’s not always easy to be oneself, especially with social media nowadays, but Belle is spreading confident positive vibes with the release of her sophomore single “Just B U”. The track has recently been released alongside a self-assured music video that really encompasses the theme of you always being enough and that you aren’t alone with these feelings. This follows up Belle’s debut single release “Run”.
Belle, full name Belle Kumble-Rose, is a rising teenage star who is really coming into her own and shining. Music has always been a part of her life, which isn’t much of a surprise as her mother (Anna Kumble) is a ’90s superstar with a number of chart hits to her stage name – Lolly – which are some big shoes to fill. Music has changed so much over the years and Belle manages to tap into her inherited songwriting skills and has already unleashed incredible music to date, and with her parents’ support, she’s set to become a pop sensation. She represents the kids who feel like they don’t have a voice and, in doing so, has managed to become relatable to many whilst being uplifting and positive.
Written by Belle Kumble-Rose, “Just B U” focuses on the difficulties of trying to just be you. It’s not easy to navigate being yourself when there are outside forces trying to change you – these forces could be other people, social media, society, and life in general. Belle clearly knows this too well as her lyrics touch on how she’s fallen and found it difficult to be around fake people, and so she spreads confidence, she pushes away all your insecurities and self-doubts and completely assures you that you are perfect just the way you are, so go and be you! These incredible lyrics are paired with a pop-rock beat and a catchy melody, with the chorus guaranteed to be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
Talking about the track, Belle said: “I was being pushed into trying to change myself and to stop doing the things I loved doing, all to be accepted as part of a particular friendship circle. This all felt so wrong and confusing so I broke free. This song is a reflection on that time, I wrote ‘Just B U’ in lockdown when I had time and space to reflect.”

The accompanying music video has been directed, written and edited by Belle whilst it was produced by MRM, and completely takes the theme of the track and amplifies the positivity. The music video opens up with a google search of “How to look perfect”, before Belle walks out of the room and starts adding clothing pictures to photos of herself, possibly a throwback reference to when kids would cut clothing images from magazines and stick them onto pictures of themselves. We next see this awesome singer-songwriter start putting make-up on in front of the mirror before heading outside. Belle showcases her passion for this song during the performance visuals of the track as she guides us around The Custard Factory, Birmingham. The video ends with Belle hosting a huge party while giving a brilliant fierce performance of “Just B U”.
Throughout the music video, there are intercut scenes of various people singing along to the track from their own cameras. These people include Belle’s fans, online influencers and celebrities Vanessa Feltz, Lynne McGanger and Amanda Byram. Many stars have done this in the past, such as Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson and Feeder, and every time it has helped to drive home the message and impact of the song, and that’s exactly what these clips for “Just B U” do, helping Belle to relate even more with her listeners.
