ATLiens Release Conceptual EP ‘Space Cathedral’

Los Angeles-based masked producers ATLiens recently dropped their new concept EP, Space Cathedral, via Bassrush.

ATLiens explains, “With ‘Space Cathedral,’ we find ourselves picking up right where the ‘Ghost Planet’ EP left off. Astronaut 001 awakens to see that the once beautiful planet is now nothing but a post-apocalyptic wasteland under a crimson sky. Everything that was once known is now destroyed but, in the distance, lies something new – an eerie cathedral now stands amongst the destroyed and barren planet. Join Astronaut 001 as they now embark once again on a journey to find out what answers and secrets are held within the walls of the Space Cathedral.”

Hailing from unknown parts of space, ATLiens are celebrated for their extraterrestrial existence and masked aura – chrome faces and red-illuminated eyes, casting an eerie presence.

ATLiens have toured around the world, including North America, Australia, and Asia with their supernatural Abduction Tour, Space Cult Tour, and Ghost Planet Tour. In 2017, ATLiens kicked off the year with the release of “Interlock,” which was released on Skrillex’s OWSLA, followed by “Alchemy” and its notable remix pack by artists such as TYNAN, Jameston Thieves, and MineSweepa.

2018 saw ATLiens release their Invasion EP, featuring “’Malfunction,” “Witch Doctor,” and “Interstellar.” In 2019, they dropped Ghost Planet, followed by an international tour. ATLiens has performed at elite festivals, including Lost Lands, Moonrise, Freaky Deaky, and EDC Orlando.

Embracing five tracks, Space Cathedral features the duo’s latest collaboration with SVDDEN DEATH, entitled “Purgatory.”

The EP begins with the title track, opening on swirling, futuristic tones, and then ramps up to dazzling layers of heavy bass, industrial percussion, and surging spacy textures. Full of dark mystery, the harmonics roil with chilling, extraterrestrial auras.

Highlights include “Purgatory,” with its digital vocalizations, massive, thumping rhythm, and crashing leitmotifs. While “Blue Skies // Crazy” rolls out on slow, eerie, oozing tones enveloped by deep, droning echoes. Fat, subterranean bellows give the tune vast, thick heft. Then the song shifts, pushing out drifting, mysterious filaments rippling with seismic folds.

The final track, “comingforyou,” travels on a shimmering intro laced with cavernous accents. Emerging rhythmic pulses elevate the tune to powerful wavering surfaces.

Simultaneously esoteric and savage, Space Cathedral demonstrates the imaginative creativity of ATLiens.
