Amber Riley and Jennifer Hudson treated a TV audience to a hell of a performance on Monday when the powerhouse singers united for an epic “Dreamgirls” duet. Hudson invited the newly crowned “Masked Singer” winner on her talk show on Dec. 5, and after discussing Riley’s career, the two joined forces to sing the famous hit “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” They both have ties to the track, as they performed the song while playing the role of Effie in the classic musical — Hudson in the 2006 film version and Riley on stage in London’s West End from 2016 to 2017.
Hudson and Riley made a game of their performance and hid behind a bunch of Christmas trees while the audience guessed whose vocals were whose. “Tear down the mountains / Yell, scream, and shout / You can say what you want / I’m not walkin’ out,” sang Hudson, while Riley belted out, “Stop all the rivers / Push, strike, and kill / I’m not gonna leave you / There’s no way I will.”
They then reappeared on stage for their grand finale and tore the house down with a masterful delivery of the song’s final chorus. And yes, they both sang that iconic run at the end. Watch the pair’s stunning “Dreamgirls” performance above.
