Selena Gomez is officially a Golden Globe nominee. On Dec. 12, Mayan Lopez and Selenis Leyva unveiled the list of 2023 nominees on NBC’s “Today,” revealing the Rare Beauty founder to be one of the honorees. Gomez was nominated for best performance by an actress in a TV series for her role as Mabel Mora on “Only Murders in the Building.” The following day, the actor celebrated her recognition on TikTok, sharing that she’d actually manifested the nomination more than a decade ago.

“I’m more of a Golden Globe or Oscar girl.”

Gomez posted a snippet of an interview with KTLA that took place on Feb. 15, 2011, in which she spoke about her award show dreams. When interviewer Sam Rubin asked the star if winning a Grammy was an aspiration of hers, she responded, “I think that would be an honor, of course, but I’m more of a Golden Globe or Oscar girl. That would be nice.” “Dreams do come true!! GUYS IM NOMINATED FOR A GOLDEN GLOBE. brb gonna scream,” Gomez captioned her TikTok video.

Though the multihyphenate has since been nominated for two Grammys — her first was for best Latin pop album in 2022 — she scored her first Globes nom on Monday. Earlier this year, Gomez became the second Latinx woman in history to be nominated as a producer for outstanding comedy series at the Emmy Awards.

The actor was nominated for her Golden Globe alongside Quinta Brunson for “Abbott Elementary,” Kaley Cuoco for “The Flight Attendant,” Jenna Ortega for “Wednesday,” and Jean Smart for “Hacks.” “Only Murders in the Building” took home three other nominations, including best television series and best actor in a television series for both Steve Martin and Martin Short.
